You will all have been wondering why I have  had a break from writing my blog, well I thought I had better share with you the reason why.

Firstly I need to reassure you that I have not experienced a negative experience which made me take a break from writing. It is actually a much more uplifting story, I  have actually been creating my entries for the 2018 Yorkshire Salon Awards, I was not really sure which category to enter, as I feel I have been in the industry for a long time now it made it hard to choose. But I finally chose to celebrate my career to date, by entering the two categories, stylist and colourist of the year.

In creating the entry it has given me a chance to do a lot of reflecting back on my career of nearly 33 years. It has been quite an incredible journey. Those of you who have read my website and followed my blog to have an insight on this journey.

By entering the stylist and colourist of the year I am celebrating reaching my ultimate goal. I set myself a challenge 18 years ago, to stay being an inspirational hairdresser, working behind the chair and continue to be happy, positive, healthy and creative. I really 100% feel I have achieved this and I can honestly say I have never been so happy and healthy, creating beautiful hair behind the chair at this present moment.

So entering the Awards for Yorkshire Stylist and Colourist of the Year, has meant that over the last two months,  I have been very busy, but it has been quite a healing journey for myself. In part this is due to all the questions I have had to answer to support my entry, which meant having to reflect back on my life and career.  I felt a deep sense of  being able to let go of any negativity that I had previously experienced, whilst at the same time keeping hold of all the wonderful positive experiences I have had.

All in all, I now recognise and think that it is important for me to find time to celebrate the many achievements, which I have accomplished throughout my life and career. This feeling will keep me moving forward in my journey of being that inspirational, motivated hairdresser working behind the chair for many more years to come.

So please take my advice and take some time to celebrate one of your achievements, whether big or small, it is really important to you as an individual.

Love and light
Mel Johnson
